It's National Crayon Collection Month!
Our goal every August (National Crayon Collection Month)  is to ensure that teachers are supported with classroom supplies and that ALL students have access to art. Every year, teachers spend an average of $900 out-of-pocket on back-to-school supplies and these expenses are not reimbursed by their district. This money goes towards basic items, like crayons, which are essential tools for learning and development. Moreover, only 4 in 10 students from vulnerable Title 1 Schools and Head Start Centers have access to art in the classroom.

This month, let's draw awareness to the power of art as a tool for learning academic standards and social emotional development using crayons as the main tool. We encourage you to support students in your community by starting your own crayon collection or making a donation to our Art Education Fund to help sponsor new, first-in-class lesson plans. Together, we can ensure all students have access to art and teachers do not spend their personal earnings to provide this crucial opportunity for students growth.
Why Does Art Matter?
Art helps students stay in school AND it provides future opportunities by instilling creativity into their work.
Providing vulnerable students with access to art will help them to achieve more academically, socially and emotionally throughout their lives. Crayon Collection is dedicated to ensuring that ALL students have access to art in the classroom.
